Why “oil-free” screw compressors are not really oil-free
A dry “oil-free” screw still needs oil to lubricate its gears and bearings. That oil is pumped, filtered and held back from the compression chamber by nothing more than an oil seal — and as the machine wears, the risk of oil reaching the air rises. Gearboxes also release fine oil mist into the ambient air, so intake air must be pre-filtered or ducted from a clean location, adding cost. Oil, filters and demisters all become waste that must be disposed of properly.
A Tamturbo compressor is 100% oil-free. With no oil anywhere in the system, it is completely risk-free from oil contamination. That simplifies the downstream air system and removes costly oil services and waste disposal entirely.
